Sol de la Mañana is a long term producer program established by the Rodríguez family of Agricafé in Caranavi, Bolivia. It was created in response to the steady decline of coffee production in the country, with many smallholder producers struggling with falling yields and leaving coffee altogether.
Rather than simply sourcing coffee from these farms, the Rodríguez family developed Sol de la Mañana as a seven year training program. Working with around 100 producers, the program shares the farming knowledge developed across the family's own farms, covering everything from nursery management and planting to pruning, harvesting, pest prevention and farm economics.
The aim is to improve both quality and productivity, giving producers the tools to build farms that can remain sustainable and profitable over the long term. Today, the programme works with more than 100 farms across Caranavi, with its impact extending beyond its own producers as neighbouring farms begin adopting many of the successful practices they observe.
This lot is composed entirely of Caturra and naturally processed, allowing the cherries to dry with the fruit intact. The process builds on Caturra's inherent sweetness, bringing greater fruit intensity and a fuller expression while retaining the clarity characteristic of coffees from the high elevations of Caranavi.
Sol de la Mañana represents more than a single farm or producer. It is a collective effort to preserve the future of Bolivian coffee through knowledge, quality and long-term investment in its producers.
