Las Alasitas is located in the highlands of Caranavi, Bolivia, and is one of the farms established by the Rodríguez family of Agricafé. The farm was planted in 2012 in response to the rapid decline of coffee production in the region, with the aim of demonstrating what could be achieved through careful farming and a greater focus on quality.
In recent years, the Rodríguez family has placed a greater emphasis on soil health across their farms. Fallen leaves and coffee pulp are returned to the base of the coffee trees to replenish nutrients naturally, while shade trees are planted throughout the farms to support a healthier and more balanced growing environment.
Sitting at around 1600 masl, Las Alasitas benefits from the cooler conditions of the Bolivian highlands. The slower maturation at this elevation allows the cherries to develop gradually, contributing to greater sweetness and structure in the cup. This lot is composed entirely of Caturra, a naturally occurring mutation of the Bourbon variety. Here, it is washed processed to preserve the coffee’s clarity and highlight the character of the variety and its growing environment.
